Time for relaxation and discovery

During your trip to Madagascar, you will see that time seems to be stopped on this island. Species almost extinct in other latitudes still live on the Big Island. At 11 hours flight from Paris, Madagascar is another world waiting for your visit to reveal its wealth.
Jet lag, information to know before departure
Madagascar is in the southern hemisphere. There is a time zone that separates Western Europe from this island. In other words, it takes an hour more to vote shows when you arrive in the Big Island. For example, when it is noon in Paris, it is 1 pm in Tananarive. However, be aware that this shift of one hour is valid during the summer. But when it’s winter in the northern hemisphere and it’s summer in the south, it’s two hours off. To give you an idea, when it is midday in Paris, it is already 2 pm in Tananarive in austral summer.
Opening hours of the offices
Generally, the offices in the cities are open from 8h to 11h and from 14h to 18h. Banks, exchange offices are open from 8h to 15h from Monday to Friday. Same thing for airline offices if you need to make reservations or confirm them. Generally, shops are mostly open on Saturdays and Sundays are a ghost town. But in the airports of Antananarivo, Nosy Be and Antsiranana, the exchange offices are open on Sundays if there are international flights.
Moreover, you will find in the big cities the ATMs, available 7/7 and 24/24 for withdrawals by Visa or Mastercard.
Post office hours
Another important information on Madagascar: the post offices of most major cities are here open between 8am and 3pm from Monday to Friday. If you want to send postcards or even parcels to your loved ones, it is feasible from these offices.
